2006 Runway John Galliano for Christian Dior Maroon Silk Dress
This stunning, floor sweeping dress walked the runway for Christian Dior’s Fall 2006 collection and was Look 43. Created during John Galliano’s heyday at the helm of this inimitable fashion house, this deep red silk gown showcases many of his design hallmarks. Often cited by fashion historians as the moment that the fashion catwalks reached peak beauty, pieces that walked the runway during Galliano’s 15 year reign at Dior are incredibly sought-after at this time by museums, archivists and fashion lovers alike. The flowing skirt is compiled from frothy layers of maroon silk that cascade around the body - tailored in the flattering, bias-cut way that is recognisably Galliano, a true study of the female form. Galliano’s well honed eye-for-detail is evident from the side-of-hip fastening which closes with tonal fabric-covered buttons and fabric loops. This adaptable dress has a separate maroon silk slip and comes with an elegant silk scarf finished with a white embroidered “Dior” logo. This memorable event piece is highly feminine and romantic; as Galliano himself stated, "my role is to seduce".
This piece is in excellent vintage condition with no flaws or marks. It is made from 100% Silk with 100% Silk lining. The label reads “Christian Dior Boutique Paris” - Made in France”. The size label states that this is a UK 14 or French 42 but the sizing comes up small in our opinion. There is no discernible evidence of alterations and the fabric does not have any stretch to it. Our model is a UK 6-8 and 5ft 4in (163cm) and this dress was slightly roomy on her. We think this would better suit sizes up to a UK 10 or US 6.

We are happy to find anything you may be interested in from our website - please let us know a week in advance.
We also have an extensive offline collection. If you let us know your size, style, favourite colour to wear and perhaps your budget, we can browse through our archive in advance of your appointment.
Do I need to bring anything with me?
Clients may wish to bring modern shapewear when trying on garments from certain eras, especially the 1950s. Vintage clothing was often worn with undergarments that shaped the waist and as such is tailored for them.
We have a huge variety of slip dresses and petticoats to complete your look; many of which are also for sale.
You may also wish to bring your favourite footwear. We often find a classic pair of nude shoes work well when trying on, or a pair in gold or silver.
Do you have a price range?
Many of our lower-priced pieces (under £150) are not available to buy online. Our prices range from £80 - £600 for separates. Dresses start at around £150 and go up to £2,500 for the very best antique pieces and designer vintage. Our bridalwear ranges from £300 - £3,000.
Can I bring anyone with me?
