VIVIENNE WESTWOOD
During the 1970s, Vivienne Westwood created provocative clothes for Malcom McLaren’s punk boutique, SEX, on London’s famous Kings Road. Inspired by historical British dress, the gothic fashions of the 19th century and classical imagery, the Vivienne Westwood brand became known for its tight corsets, bustles and use of tartan. Worn by members of the New Romantic and Punk movements, the label became synonymous with their anti-establishment attitudes and transgressive approaches to fashion. Vivienne Westwood is a three time winner of the British Fashion Designer of the Year Award.
