1950s Cream Jacquard Floral Wedding Dress
This true vintage 1950s wedding dress is crafted from a detailed jacquard in a rich creamy off-white hue. Tailored to a classic ‘50s silhouette with a nipped-in waist and full skirt which swirls around the legs and finishes around ankle length. The waistline is slightly dropped and so the band sits just above the hips and the skirt has a few soft pleats on each hip where it greets the top. The fabric has a subtle sheen, the intricately woven detail of the jacquard florals and leaves is emphasised as they catch the light. Inside, the fabric is backed by muslin cotton and an additional knee-length petticoat tailored from layers of stiff mesh tulle that holds its shape and adds volume to the skirt. A graceful high neckline is formed from a fold of coordinating cloth and finishes at the back of the neck in a pointed collar. The long-sleeves add elegance to this lovely gown, and have pointed cuffs that fall lightly over the back of the hand. This dress fastens at the rear with a hidden tonal zip and hook-and-eye clasp. It is very slightly longer at the back than the front.
For a dress of nearly 75 years of age, it is structurally very sound and wearable and in super vintage condition. We noted a small, thumb print area to the back of the collar where the jacquard appears to be a very pale pink but its virtually unnoticable. The very bottom of the hem also has a few areas of grey around 1 mm in thickness where it has been in contact with the floor but this is seen only on very close inspection. We assume the neat 'Bradford and Son' label in the bodice of the dress is the retailer or manufacturer and it is a very well made UK dress. There is no size or composition label, so please check the below measurements carefully. The fabric has no stretch and we estimate a good fit for up to a UK 8 or US 4.

Will you set anything aside for me before I come?
We are happy to find anything you may be interested in from our website - please let us know a week in advance.
We also have an extensive offline collection. If you let us know your size, style, favourite colour to wear and perhaps your budget, we can browse through our archive in advance of your appointment.
Do I need to bring anything with me?
Clients may wish to bring modern shapewear when trying on garments from certain eras, especially the 1950s. Vintage clothing was often worn with undergarments that shaped the waist and as such is tailored for them.
We have a huge variety of slip dresses and petticoats to complete your look; many of which are also for sale.
You may also wish to bring your favourite footwear. We often find a classic pair of nude shoes work well when trying on, or a pair in gold or silver.
Do you have a price range?
Many of our lower-priced pieces (under £150) are not available to buy online. Our prices range from £80 - £600 for separates. Dresses start at around £150 and go up to £2,500 for the very best antique pieces and designer vintage. Our bridalwear ranges from £300 - £3,000.
Can I bring anyone with me?
