2005 John Galliano Zebra and Newspaper Print Skirt
This swirling silk maxi-skirt was designed by John Galliano in his early-2000s heyday and needs no introduction. Crafted from sheer gossamer silk with silk godet panels around the hem to create fullness and movement. The panels are alternatingly patterned with a zebra hide design and the designer’s iconic newspaper print. Tailored to a high-waist cut, the waistband is secured with delicate fabric-covered buttons and fabric loops along the left hip. It is hemmed with a sheer white tulle trim and fully lined with off-white silk crepe; there are three layers overall. The nude, soft plastic brand label is present in the top of the waistband and the collection is spring / summer 2005. Labelled a UK 8 or US 2 and true to size. This sought-after piece is in excellent vintage condition with no issues of any note and worthy of the phrase 'archival vintage'. Our model (5ft 4in / 163cm) is a size UK 6-8 and this fit her well.
Putting his stamp on a pattern that has a century-long fashion history, Galliano launched his newspaper print for Christian Dior’s Spring 2000 Couture collection and it has had notable repeats since. As both Dior and his own label were owned by the luxury conglomerate LVMH, Galliano was able to transpose designs between the two fashion houses. Galliano pieces from pre 2010 were made in the same factory as the ready to wear Dior collections so you can expect the same quality and finish across this skirt as on those earlier, highly collectable Galliano-for-Dior pieces. Bonhams recently sold an original Dior newsprint dress for $23,000 in 2024.

Will you set anything aside for me before I come?
We are happy to find anything you may be interested in from our website - please let us know a week in advance.
We also have an extensive offline collection. If you let us know your size, style, favourite colour to wear and perhaps your budget, we can browse through our archive in advance of your appointment.
Do I need to bring anything with me?
Clients may wish to bring modern shapewear when trying on garments from certain eras, especially the 1950s. Vintage clothing was often worn with undergarments that shaped the waist and as such is tailored for them.
We have a huge variety of slip dresses and petticoats to complete your look; many of which are also for sale.
You may also wish to bring your favourite footwear. We often find a classic pair of nude shoes work well when trying on, or a pair in gold or silver.
Do you have a price range?
Many of our lower-priced pieces (under £150) are not available to buy online. Our prices range from £80 - £600 for separates. Dresses start at around £150 and go up to £2,500 for the very best antique pieces and designer vintage. Our bridalwear ranges from £300 - £3,000.
Can I bring anyone with me?

Where can I get alterations?
